:: WP Challenge Day 1 - Heart Change ::

Me and My Quiet Man
Hello, dear friends!  Ready to jump in?  I hope you've had some quiet moments to pray over your Warriors today.  Let me start off by introducing myself and my little family.  My name is Alle and I'm a brand-new mama (my little guy is almost 6 months).  I'm a creative-heart at the core, addicted to organization and lists, and passionate about music and songwriting.  My husband, The Quiet Man is my best friend and one of the most solid men of faith I've ever met.  He also is a musician and writer and leads our family well - I'm proud to call him mine!  We've been together for the best 3.5 years of our lives - married for 1.5 of that and have been so excited to add the Little Lion Cub to our nest a few months back!  While he is still young, we've been so blessed to see him grow and begin developing his personality.  He is strong-willed (oh, boy), has the greatest little giggle, and is a cuddler.  I'm so excited (and nervous) to learn how to parent a son - any advice for this new mama?

Now, onto the meat for today - we're working through "heart change" - isn't that a perfect place to start?  Brooke writes:
"The most foundational thing we can ask God for in the lives of our sons is heart change.  The Word says that what's in the heart eventually comes out.  Bad stuff in the heart?  Bad stuff comes out.  Good stuff in the heart?  Good stuff comes out."
The Little Lion Cub
Oh, friends - this is so true.  It is so difficult for me to imagine that my sweet boy could ever have "bad stuff" in his heart, but Scripture is clear.  "The heart is deceitful above all things and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9

Today, pray for the heart change of your sons - that God's overwhelming presence would be manifest in their lives in such a way that Heart Change would be unavoidable.  As you start working through the e-book and prayers on your own, I want to share four ideas from Brooke on how to organize your time through the topical prayers:
  1. Get up early and bathe your sons in prayer first thing in the morning
  2. Pray the prayers one at a time throughout the day
  3. Make the prayers a part of your family devotion time - you could even pray them out loud over your sons
  4. Spend time in concentrated prayer late at night, around bedtime
For the past two sessions of the challenge, my hubbers and I prayed for our son each night before bed...we read through Brooke's encouragement and direction in the e-book together and then took turns praying the prayers out loud, inserting our Warrior's name!  However you choose to do it - just commit to the 10 prayers each day!  So your assignment for today...

  • Read the Introduction and section titled, "The Battle" (the story of Eli and his sons is so convicting there) in the e-book and work through any (or all) of the Study Questions that enhance your time in this challenge!
    • Remember to let me know if you're having trouble getting a copy of the book.
  • Pray through the 10 prayers on Heart Change.
  • Take a moment and introduce yourself here in the comments on this post and let us know what kind of Warriors you have in your home?
  • Invite any last minute friends/family members to join up with us and have them send me an email at allemccloskey(at)gmail(dot)com and I'll get them started
